瀬戸の陶芸家・​​加藤鈔に師事​した後、90年伊豆高原に「​​海座工房」を開設。神獣、怪獣、猛獣、草食獣、鳥類、爬虫類、様々な生物がひしめき合う水辺の様な​器、​楽園の器​をコンセプトに作陶する。

After studying under Seto ceramist Sho Kato, Shimura established his own studio “Umiza Kobo” in Izu Kogen in 1990. He creates ceramics based on the concept of a journey of a paradise like a waterside where various creatures such as legendary beasts, monsters, ravenous beasts, herbivores, birds, and reptiles are gathered together.
